That’s when the Free State of Bavaria officially took over. Before that the building which opened in 1963 was a boys-only school. It was the “Staatliche Realschule fur Knaben I”.

The school isn’t just about books and exams. It’s a hub of activity. It’s a support center for canoeing and kayaking. The Augsburg Ice Canal provides excellent training opportunities. Imagine students gliding through the water honing their skills! Since 2019 the school has also been a support center for mountain biking.

The Bertolt-Brecht-Realschule is innovative. It’s a pioneer in incorporating technology into the classroom. In 2017-2018 every classroom received projectors computers and document cameras. School-wide Wi-Fi was also installed. It’s a testament to its commitment to modern education.

The school’s commitment extends beyond academics. In 2010 students teachers and parents raised over 2000 euros for Ethiopia. They did this with an incredible 24-hour non-stop teaching marathon. Teachers wore Ethiopian clothing and linked their lessons to the country’s culture. This fundraising effort helped build a classroom and a well in Ethiopia.

The Bertolt-Brecht-Realschule isn’t just a school it’s a community. It boasts partnerships with the Augsburg Utilities the University Hospital Augsburg and the Augsburg State Theater. This collaboration enriches the learning experience providing students with real-world connections.
