The design of the Jockey Club Innovation Tower is a deliberate departure from conventional tower/podium structures. These informal spaces complement the larger exhibition forums, studios, and recreational facilities. The Jockey Club Innovation Tower is strategically located at the northeastern tip of the university campus. This placement encourages interdisciplinary initiatives and engagement with the wider community. The building’s transparent and connected interior promotes a multidisciplinary environment. Students and staff move through 15 levels of studios, workshops, labs, and exhibition areas. Glazing and voids create a sense of openness, while circulation routes and communal spaces are designed to encourage interaction. The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust played a vital role in the tower’s realization, contributing HK$249 million towards its construction. Their support also extends to funding the Jockey Club Design Institute for Social Innovation, housed within the tower.
