“Fitness for Life,” that’s the motto as we approach Building 12. This building isn’t just a structure. It’s a hub of wellness for the Navy community.
Building 12 has a rich history. It now promotes physical fitness among active-duty sailors, families, retirees, and DoD civilians. The Balboa Athletic Complex is a key part of this effort. It offers many ways to stay active.
Inside Building 12, you’ll find a basketball court. Two tennis courts and two racquetball courts are available. There are also two pickleball courts and a sand volleyball court. A group exercise room and cardio space await fitness enthusiasts. Locker rooms and a coed dry sauna offer comfort and relaxation.
The Balboa Athletic Complex hosts NMCSD Captain’s Cup Intramural Sports. NMCSD PRT Cycles and therapy/recovery classes are also held here. Wounded, Ill, Injured adaptive sports training takes place here.
The Balboa Athletic Complex features a gymnasium. It accommodates basketball and volleyball games. Aerobics and fitness studios offer group classes. Cardiovascular equipment and a weight training room provide workout options. A swimming pool and softball field offer outdoor activities. After a workout, relax in the co-ed sauna or therapy whirlpool.
Building 313 houses the HITT Center. This comprehensive strength and conditioning program optimizes physical performance. It considers the physical demands of operational activities. The HITT program uses cutting-edge training methods and scientific principles. It enhances athleticism for today’s tactical athlete.
Group fitness classes are popular here. You can find yoga, Pilates, circuit training, spin, and Zumba. These classes take place at various times throughout the week.
