Before the San Antonio Texas Temple was built, members had to travel hours to Houston or Dallas for temple ordinances. The temple’s dedication in 2005 was a joyous occasion, marked by a cultural celebration at the Alamodome that featured music, dance, and fireworks. Over 20,000 people attended the celebration, including President Gordon B. Hinckley, who delighted the audience with a speech about the importance of the temple before the musical celebration began.
