In the year 1964, it moved to Smith High School, and its name changed to Hoke Smith Technical Institute, honoring a former Governor of Georgia. Then in 1967, it moved to its current location and was renamed Atlanta Area Technical School, and in 1997, it became Atlanta Technical Institute. In 2000, the school finally earned its current name: Atlanta Technical College, a name that reflects its commitment to providing high-quality education to the Atlanta community. During this evolution, the school opened its South Campus in Forest Park, expanding its reach and offering new possibilities to students from both Fulton and Clayton counties. Today, Atlanta Technical College awards associate degrees, diplomas, and technical certificates of credit.
