The Obelisk of Ligovo Military Glory is an integral part of this memorial complex. It stands as a testament to the fierce battles fought here, during the darkest days of World War II. The inscription on the Obelisk reads, “On this рубеже on the 18th of September 1941, the heroic defenders of Leningrad held the German hordes and saved the besieged city.” The architects, K.L. Iogansen and V.A. Petrov, designed this poignant monument. It was erected in 1944. In 1983-1984, the Obelisk underwent restoration. This Obelisk of Ligovo Military Glory is more than just stone and inscription. It is a place where the past speaks to us.
