“Did you hear about the pastor who arrived in Papua New Guinea in 2003?” Right here, in the heart of Port Moresby, stands the Rugged Cross Independent Baptist Church. It’s a beacon of faith, established in the relatively recent year of 2015 by Pastor Matt Allen. This wasn’t Pastor Allen’s first foray into missionary work in Papua New Guinea. He, along with his family, had dedicated themselves to serving the Kamea Tribe in the Gulf Province for over a decade. Then, driven by a vision to spread the word in the capital city, he founded the Rugged Cross Independent Baptist Church. The church’s mission is clear: to know Christ and make Him known. It echoes the wider spirit of Papua New Guinea, a land with a rich tapestry of cultures and languages. Just like the country itself, this church is a testament to the enduring power of faith and community.
