Here it stands a colossal structure. The Morodok Techo National Stadium rises before us. This stadium is more than just a sports venue. It is a symbol of friendship and progress.

The Morodok Techo National Stadium is the centerpiece of the Morodok Techo National Sports Complex. This complex was built for Cambodia’s hosting of the 2023 SEA Games. Construction began in April 2017. The stadium officially opened in August 2021.

Look at the stadium’s unique design. It resembles a sailing ship. This design represents the historical connection between Cambodia and China. Chinese people first arrived in Cambodia by sea. The stadium is therefore a symbol of Cambodia-China relations.

Notice the two tall structures that look like prows. They rise 99 meters high. These prows represent the Khmer gesture of Sampeah. Sampeah is a traditional greeting. It shows respect in Cambodian culture.

Around the stadium, you can see a moat. This moat is similar to those at Angkor Wat. The stadium design is inspired by the Rumduol flower. The whole stadium covers 16 hectares. It is part of the larger 85-hectare sports complex.

The Chinese government provided significant aid for this project. They invested about $160 million. The China State Construction Engineering Corporation developed the stadium. Around 340 Chinese engineers and 240 Cambodian workers worked together.

The stadium can hold 60,000 people. It is designed for quick evacuation. In an emergency, everyone can exit in just seven minutes. QR codes have been installed on each seat.

The Morodok Techo National Stadium is not just for sports. It also houses a hotel and shops. You can find sportswear, equipment, and food here.

This stadium is a source of pride for Cambodia. It hosted its first international cricket match on February 8, 2023. Cambodia played against Singapore. The stadium is ready for major events. These include soccer, rugby, and athletics. It can also host large exhibitions and cultural events.

The Morodok Techo National Stadium stands as a testament. It shows what can be achieved through collaboration and friendship. It embodies Cambodia’s rich culture and its promising future in sports.
