Since 2014, the Surinaamsch Rumhuis has organized Museumn8 in Suriname. This follows the International Council of Museums initiative from 1977. The Rumhuis participates yearly in the museum night.

The Surinaamsch Rumhuis resides in a country house from 1953. A well-known Dutch architect Ir Peter James Nagel designed it. This building was the first residential house he designed and built. Nagel also designed the Torarica Hotel and the Surinaamsche Bank. He designed the Fatum building and the Parima public swimming pool. Other designs include the Star theater and the monumental buildings around Kerkplein, including the main post office. SAB N.V. purchased the building on September 16, 1991. Today, the Surinaamsch Rumhuis is part of Suriname Alcoholic Beverages N.V. SAB.
The Surinaamsch Rumhuis opened on December 10, 2010. It enhances the activities of Suriname Alcoholic Beverages N.V. SAB produces Borgoe, Black Cat and Mariënburg rum. These are known outside Suriname. The Rumhuis responds to the growing tourism in Suriname. It quickly became a unique product provider. It is more than just a showpiece for SAB.
The Rumhuis has grown into a multifunctional rum establishment. The experience of the “Rumway of Life” is central. This is for tourists, the Surinamese business community and private individuals. The Rumhuis has a contemporary and nostalgic appearance. It sits on the banks of the Suriname River. It is in the bustling tourist center of Paramaribo.
