Ever wonder where Osnabrück’s sweetest dreams were crafted? That place was Leysieffer Genusskultur GmbH. Leysieffer was more than just a company. It was a journey through generations of confectionery artistry.

In 1909, Ulrich Leysieffer opened a small кондитерская in Krahnstraße. This marked the humble beginnings of what would become a renowned brand. Years later, in 1936, Leysieffer began crafting its own pralines. Even war couldn’t extinguish the Leysieffer spirit. Though the shop was destroyed in 1944, Karl and Ursula Leysieffer rebuilt it in 1950.

Expansion followed. Leysieffer moved to a larger production site in Osnabrück-Atter in 1973. Karl Leysieffer created the “Himmlischen”. These cream truffle pralines, dusted with sugar, became a signature product. By 2014, Leysieffer employed 450 people. The family tradition continued with Jan Leysieffer. He led the company into the fourth generation until 2020.

Leysieffer became known for premium products. These treats were handmade with natural ingredients. But challenges arose. In 2019, the company faced its first insolvency. Filialen were closed. The product range was reduced. US investor Deel & Winkler took over. Jan Leysieffer departed from operations.

In 2021, the original Osnabrück store closed. However, Leysieffer reopened in Haus Tenge later that year. A cafe-bistro with an event hall followed in 2022. More change was on the horizon. The Zeitfracht Group acquired Leysieffer in August 2022. The company was restructured as Leysieffer Genusskultur GmbH. The headquarters moved back to Osnabrück.

The story took another turn. Holstein Schoko UG acquired Leysieffer Genusskultur GmbH in early 2024. The main store relocated to Krahnstraße 42. Sadly, Leysieffer filed for insolvency again in September 2024. Liquidation followed in November 2024.

Leysieffer’s legacy lives on through its creations. Pralines, chocolates, cakes, and jams were all part of the offering. They also sold coffee, tea, and alcoholic beverages. Many products were handmade and packaged with care. Though the company closed, Jan Leysieffer started producing pralines again in Osnabrück. In December 2024, he brought Leysieffer back to Hamburg and Berlin.

Leysieffer’s story is a blend of tradition. It is also filled with innovation, and resilience. It reflects the challenges of maintaining a family business in a changing world. The sweet memories, however, remain.
