Let’s step back in time. In 1928, Christians with Baptist roots gathered privately. They met in homes. Later, they convened at the city’s Blaukreuzhaus. This marked the start of the community. The Osnabrueck station received spiritual support from Oldenburg and East Friesland.
On Pentecost Sunday in 1948, history was made. The founding service took place. About 40 members attended at the Teutoburger School. This event marked the official establishment of the Evangelisch-Freikirchliche Gemeinde Osnabrueck. The church became a member of the Bund Evangelisch-Freikirchlicher Gemeinden in Deutschland.
In May 1951, the church moved to the Komtureikirche on Wiesenstrasse. They were welcomed by the Osnabrueck Adventist community. By February 1955, the congregation decided to build their own church. A building committee searched for land. In August 1957, they purchased land on Kokschen Strasse 74. Construction began. In May 1960, the first chapel was dedicated. The Osnabrueck community had grown to over 100 members.
Expansion became necessary. In February 1994, the congregation voted to begin expanding. Construction lasted until August 1996. During this time, the Adventists again hosted the community. A festive service marked the opening of the new community center in September 1996. The center accommodates 425 worshipers. The large hall fits about 180 people. A modern cafe and various rooms support community work.
