The Orix Theater boasts a rich history. Originally known as the Osaka Kosei Nenkin Kaikan it opened on April 14 1968. At the time it was Osaka’s biggest concert venue. Imagine the excitement. The energy must have been electric.
Many legendary musicians graced its stage. Black Sabbath Kiss Pink Floyd Deep Purple. Even Queen and Santana played here. The Jackson 5 brought their infectious grooves. James Brown’s electrifying presence must have filled the hall. This theater saw incredible musical giants. It played host to unforgettable performances.
The theater isn’t just about rock legends. It hosted diverse acts too. Amalia Rodrigues a Portuguese fado singer brought her soulful music. K-pop groups Red Velvet and NCT 127 also performed here. Jun K from 2PM even graced the stage. It truly had something for everyone.
In October 2009 Orix Real Estate purchased the building. It was renamed the Orix Theater. Today it continues its legacy as a leading concert venue in Osaka. Its impressive size holds up to 2400 people.
Beyond the main hall the original complex included smaller halls. It even had lodging and restaurants. What a complete entertainment destination.
