Hirakata Park began with a Chrysanthemum Figure Exhibition. These weren’t just any flower displays. They were life-sized figures. Chrysanthemum flowers and leaves were their costumes. Imagine samurai made of chrysanthemums. The Hirakata Grand Chrysanthemum Doll Festival ended in 2005. It ran for 96 years.

Around 2000 hard times hit many amusement parks. Universal Studios Japan opened in Osaka. This increased competition. Many parks in the Kinki region closed. Hirakata Park faced debt but found a way to survive.
In 2009 Hirakata Park started using “Hirapa Niisan”. These were celebrity promotion ambassadors. Ryūichi Kosugi was the first. He aimed to break visitor records. Junichi Okada followed in 2013. He was from Hirakata. Okada boosted the park’s popularity.
What makes Hirakata Park special? It mixes classic charm with creative ideas. There was the “Russian Ferris Wheel”. Some gondolas were blacked out. Also there were blindfolded rides on rollercoasters.
