Tragically, the night was shattered when a gunman, Omar Mateen, entered the club and opened fire. 49 innocent lives were lost, and 53 others were injured. The world mourned with Orlando as details of the horrific act of violence emerged. Pulse, a beacon of acceptance, had become a symbol of hate and loss.
