Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live in a place with some of the most expensive houses in the world? Malabar Hill, Mumbai is one of the most exclusive places on the planet, with stunning views of the Arabian Sea, and history that goes back to a time before the British even arrived in India. Perched up on an eminence, Malabar Hill used to be known as Walkeshwar, a place revered for its temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is believed that during his journey to Lanka, Lord Rama stopped here. Legend has it that he created a shiva linga out of sand, which is now housed in the Walkeshwar Temple. The hill was also the domain of the influential Keyi family, who originally hailed from Kerala’s Northern Malabar region, and who had business connections with the French, Portuguese, and the British. It was their generosity that gifted this land to the East India Company. Today, Malabar Hill is a symbol of affluence and extravagance with lavish mansions, opulent residences, and a captivating blend of history and culture. It’s more than just a place; it’s a glimpse into the opulent spirit of Mumbai!
