Can history be whispered on the wind? Here at Haus Borg, it seems so. The elegant manor house, perched on its own island in the moat, seems to radiate centuries of stories. Haus Borg is a sight to behold. A magnificent example of a typical Münsterland moated castle, it stands as a silent sentinel to a rich past. Haus Borg wasn’t always silent, though. Imagine the year 1324, when the echoes of wedding celebrations rang out. The daughter of the lord of the manor, Gerwins IV von Rinkerode, was marrying Diedrich von Volmarstein. This union brought Haus Borg into the hands of the von Volmarstein family. Over the centuries, Haus Borg has witnessed countless seasons come and go. It has seen the changing hands of noble families and even the artistry of the famous baroque architect Gottfried Laurenz Pictorius. Although today we can only admire its exterior, the very stones of Haus Borg seem to hum with the memories of feasts, feuds, and family dramas. These whispers of the past, carried on the breeze rustling through the weeping willows, remind us that even in stillness, there are stories waiting to be heard.
