While the precise location of Khuzaymah Ibn Thabit’s grave is unknown, his memory lives on in Mecca, where this mosque bears witness to his profound faith and unwavering loyalty.
Masjid Khuzaymah Ibn Thabit is a simple mosque, a humble space within the heart of the city, its unassuming exterior hinting at the remarkable story it holds. Khuzaymah, or as he was known, Abu ‘Umara, was a renowned scholar and a prominent figure among the Ansar, who welcomed the Prophet Muhammad to Medina. One story, in particular, highlights Khuzaymah’s unwavering faith. The Prophet Muhammad purchased a horse from an Arab, but the man later denied the deal. Khuzaymah, though not present at the time, spoke up and testified on the Prophet’s behalf. This extraordinary act, symbolized his strong belief in the Prophet’s words. It is said that it is from this event that Khuzaymah earned the title “Dhu al-Shahadatayn” – the one with two testimonies.
