Architect W Cecil Hardisty designed it in the Arts and Crafts Perpendicular style. Pevsner himself called it Hardisty’s best work in Manchester. That’s quite a compliment.

Notice the west front. The decoration is focused there. A charming bellcote sits perched atop one side of the gable. It’s almost playfully placed. Sadly much of the original furniture is gone. Some replacement pieces came from demolished churches. The reredos for example arrived from St Edward’s in Holbeck Leeds. It’s a testament to the enduring spirit of faith. Pieces from other churches found a new home here in Moss Side.
