You’re standing here, right in front of Manama, a small but historic place. Can you imagine what life was like in the past when Manama was a vital trading hub? It’s hard to believe that this tranquil oasis once bustled with merchants and traders, their voices calling across the marketplace as they struck bargains, their camels patiently awaiting their next journey.

Manama is a fascinating place, a little piece of Ajman Emirate nestled in the eastern foothills of the Hajar Mountains, around 73 kilometers east of Ajman City. It was once a bustling trading post and even has ancient quarries and mines of magnesium and chromium. Manama was known for its rich agricultural lands and oasis, with date palm groves and lush fruit trees.

Although the trading life of Manama has slowed over the years, the legacy of its vibrant past remains. You can still step back in time and feel its history when you visit the Al Mareer Fort, which is now home to the Manama Museum. The fort has been part of Manama since the reign of Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, who ruled from 1873 to 1891. While you stand here, imagine you were there, watching the fort’s walls withstand the passage of time and the echoes of its past whisper stories of merchants, camels, and trade.

Manama is a reminder that the past is never truly gone, but lives on in every stone, every palm tree and every story whispered by the wind.
