In 2005, Hongkong Land and Shun Tak Holdings partnered. They developed this 17,000 square meter site. It overlooks Nam Van Lake. Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF) designed One Central. The Mandarin Oriental hotel opened in 2010.
Now, let’s explore the One Central Macau Mall. This retail complex spans 200,000 square feet. It has three levels. It connects to the MGM Grand Macau casino. It is also near Wynn Macau, Grand Lisboa, and Star World Macau.
One Central Macau boasts international designer brands. Many opened their first or flagship stores here. This makes One Central a prime shopping destination.
KPF was the Design Architect. Wong & Tung International Limited supported them. One Central has won awards. These include the Quality Building Award and Best Tall Building Asia & Australasia.
During the day, the façade reflects light. This creates a kaleidoscope effect. At night, dynamic lighting accentuates it. Brandston Partnership Incorporation designed the lighting.
One Central is undergoing a revamp. This started in December 2023. It will continue until February 2025. The goal is to enhance the shopping experience. A new minimalistic design will highlight panoramic views of Nam Van Lake. The main atrium will feature luxury brands and installations.
Pansy Ho of Shun Tak Holdings envisions a dynamic fashion space. This will attract visitors. It will contribute to Macau’s status as a world tourism center.
One Central also hosts events. The Macau International Lantern Festival takes place here. Artists from around the world design giant lantern installations.
