Bilkent University

In 1984, a vision took root on the Anatolian plains west of Ankara. This vision, fueled by the ambition of Professor İhsan Doğramacı, blossomed into Bilkent University. Bilkent University stands as a testament to his dream of a “city of science,” or bilim kenti, as it’s known in Turkish. Bilkent University was Turkey’s first private, non-profit university. The campus sprawls across over 300 hectares, a testament to the grand scale of Doğramacı’s vision. The university quickly gained recognition for its academic excellence. It consistently ranked among the top universities in Turkey. At one point, it even reached 112th place globally according to The World University Rankings. The annual Mayfest is a highlight. This renowned festival brings the Ankara youth to campus for a week of open-air concerts featuring famous Turkish pop and rock musicians. Bilkent University also serves as a launchpad for innovation. Bilkent Cyberpark, established in 2002, is the fastest-growing technology park in Turkey.
