Welcome to the On the Same Team Mural a vibrant tribute in Beverly Grove. This mural immortalizes Kobe Bryant and Luka Dončić. It stands as a testament to the intersection of basketball generations. The mural is located near Carrera Cafe. It sits across from the iconic Paul Smith pink wall.

Arutyun Gozukuchikyan known as ArToon created this stunning piece. He is an Armenian artist. Gozukuchikyan also painted a Kobe Bryant mural in Ventura after Bryant’s death.

The On the Same Team Mural depicts a meeting between Bryant and Dončić. It captures the spirit of two eras. One era belongs to Kobe Bryant. The other to Luka Dončić.

Casual fans might not realize Kobe Bryant and Luka Dončić ever met. Bryant retired before Dončić’s NBA debut. However their paths crossed on December 29 2019. The Dallas Mavericks played the Lakers. Bryant watched courtside with his daughter Gianna.

Dončić was throwing an inbound pass. He heard someone speaking Slovenian. It was Bryant smiling. Dončić was surprised that Bryant knew Slovenian. He shook Bryant’s hand.

After the game Bryant greeted Dončić saying “My Man What’s up brother?” They laughed and hugged. Doncic posed for a photo with Gianna and Bryant. A month later Bryant and Gianna tragically passed away in a helicopter crash.

The On the Same Team Mural imagines Dončić as a Laker. He wears the Lakers purple and gold. Kobe Bryant is also in his iconic Lakers colors. The mural reflects their brief but memorable encounter.

Gozukuchikyan was inspired to paint the mural. This was when Dončić joined the Lakers. He wanted to honor both athletes. Gozukuchikyan said he is a big fan of Kobe. He always wants to involve him in moments like this.

Kobe Bryant was an NBA icon. He won five championships. He was an 18-time All-Star. He scored 33643 points. He was the highest-scoring Laker of all time upon his retirement.

Luka Dončić is a rising star. He is a five-time NBA All-Star. He is a five-time All-NBA First Team selection. His arrival to the Lakers adds excitement to the city’s basketball culture.

The On the Same Team Mural took only three days to complete. Gozukuchikyan channeled inspiration from the 2019 photograph. The mural captures the bond between these two legends. It’s a tribute to the heroes of today and tomorrow.

More than 100 murals commemorate Kobe and Gianna. Vanessa Bryant is writing a book about these murals. Andrew Bernstein is photographing them. The On the Same Team Mural is a worthy addition. It immortalizes their meeting. It is a symbol of shared passion and respect. This striking artwork is a testament to their enduring legacies.
