The first professional baseball game held here was a Major League Baseball exhibition. The San Diego Padres played the Seattle Mariners on April 1, 1983. Over 13000 fans attended. The Cashman Field attendance record was set on April 3, 1993. 15,025 people watched the Chicago White Sox play the Chicago Cubs.
Cashman Field also hosted the Triple-A All-Star Game in 1990. Eddie Williams of Las Vegas was selected as the PCL MVP. From 1998 to 2000, Cashman Field hosted the Triple-A World Series. The final baseball game here was on September 3, 2018. Pete Alonso hit a walk-off home run to left field.
But Cashman Field is more than just baseball. In 1996, the Oakland Athletics played six games here. This was while the Oakland Coliseum was being renovated. From 2001 to 2003, it hosted the Big League Challenge. This was a home run derby for major leaguers. For many years, Cashman Field hosted at least one Major League Baseball spring training game.
