Afua Kobi Ampem Girls’ Senior High School

October 1975 marked the birth of Afua Kobi Ampem Girls’ Senior High School. It began its life as Trabuom Secondary School, a co-educational institution. Later, it became Atwimaman Secondary School. It finally found its true identity as Afua Kobi Ampem Girls’ Senior High School. This transformation occurred when Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, upon ascending the Golden Stool, adopted the school. He renamed it in honor of his mother, Nana Afua Kobi Ampem, the queen mother of the Asante Kingdom. Located in Trabuom, 22 kilometers west of Kumasi in the Atwima Kwanwoma District, Afua Kobi Ampem Girls’ Senior High School stands as a testament to its rich history. Originally founded by General Ignatius Kutu Acheampong, a former head of state who had attended elementary school in the neighboring village, the school was meant to address the educational challenges he had experienced.
