It provides both tertiary hematology care and secondary medical services. Ampang Hospital was one of the first hospitals in Malaysia to implement the Total Hospital Information System (THIS). This fully computerized system streamlines operations and enhances patient care. Looking for the hematology clinic? You’ll find it on Level 1, open Monday through Wednesday from 9 am to 1 pm. While Ampang Hospital handles a range of medical needs, from surgical procedures to deliveries, it stands out for its hematology department. Led by Datuk Dr. Chang Kien Meng, a respected figure in the field, the department handles complex blood-related cases referred from all over Malaysia. Dr. Chang’s team on Levels 7 and 8 is known for its expertise in blood-related cancers. Despite his demanding schedule, Dr. Chang maintains a hands-on approach and a down-to-earth demeanor with his patients. As a government hospital, Ampang Hospital offers incredibly affordable healthcare, with the Malaysian government subsidizing approximately 98% of the costs for Malaysian citizens.
