Established in 1939 SJK (C) Chee Wen has a rich history. It began its journey in Sungai Tinggi Kuala Selangor. Sung Seng Woon Lim Seng Tet Chang Wa and Tan Mun Yeen founded the school. The school’s name honors T V Soong a prominent figure in China. He was the elder brother of the famous Soong sisters. A slight dialectal mispronunciation led to the spelling “Chee Wen”.
Imagine the early years. Students learning in a simple building. Teachers dedicated to education despite limited resources. The school grew. More students arrived. The need for a larger space became apparent.
In 2001 SJK (C) Chee Wen took a big step. It moved to Subang Jaya. Initially 158 students shared premises with SK SS17. The student population steadily increased. The demand for its own building became urgent.
Finally on July 28 2003 a new chapter unfolded. SJK (C) Chee Wen moved into its own building in USJ 1. This marked a significant achievement. It reflected the school’s growth and commitment to providing quality education.
Today SJK (C) Chee Wen thrives in Subang Jaya. It houses a large student body. A dedicated team of teachers guides them. The school offers a diverse range of extracurricular activities. These foster holistic development. SJK (C) Chee Wen continues to be a pillar of the community. It nurtures young minds and preserves Chinese culture.
