Armenian College

Did you know that this very building is the birthplace of the renowned English novelist William Makepeace Thackeray? He was born here in 1811, years before the college opened its doors. The Armenian College and Philanthropic Academy, as it’s formally known, isn’t just about academics. It’s a holistic experience, nurturing young minds while preserving Armenian traditions. They study a curriculum based on the ICSE syllabus, with Armenian as their second language. Funding for this unique institution comes from a variety of sources, including a significant endowment from Sir Catchick Paul Chater, a Kolkata-born Armenian businessman who made his fortune in Hong Kong. Thanks to his generosity, the Armenian College continues its mission of providing free education and boarding to Armenian children worldwide. The Armenian College is more than just bricks and mortar.
