Is this where the magic happens? The BK Arena stands as a testament to Rwanda’s ambition and love for sports and entertainment. Completed in 2019, this architectural marvel is the largest indoor arena in East Africa. The BK Arena isn’t just a building. It’s a symbol of national pride.
The arena regularly hosts exhilarating basketball games, including those of the Rwanda Basketball League. But it’s not just about basketball. The BK Arena has welcomed international volleyball and tennis tournaments, pulsating concerts, and even prestigious events like the Basketball Africa League. In a remarkable display of community spirit, the construction of the BK Arena saw the involvement of around 1,000 to 2,000 local workers. In 2022, the arena underwent a significant name change to BK Arena. This followed a major sponsorship deal with the Bank of Kigali, a testament to the arena’s growing reputation as a regional hub for entertainment and sports. The arena stands proudly next to the Amahoro Stadium, creating a sporting complex that embodies Rwanda’s passion for athletic excellence.
