Did you ever hear of a swimming pool hosting a European Championship? Right here at Rosenlundsbadet, this incredible feat happened. Rosenlundsbadet opened its doors in 1966 and was officially inaugurated in 1967. Just a decade later, in 1977, Rosenlundsbadet became the stage for the European Aquatics Championships. Imagine the roar of the crowd as swimmers from all over Europe competed within these very walls. Rosenlundsbadet wasn’t content to rest on its laurels. In 1991, it expanded its offerings with the addition of an exciting adventure water park. This new feature further solidified Rosenlundsbadet’s position as a beloved recreational hub for Jönköping residents and visitors alike. But time marches on. As of 2023, plans are underway for a new swimming complex, though sadly, the beloved adventure water park won’t be part of the new design. An architect was selected in the spring of 2023, and detailed plans for the area were developed in the fall. The target date for the new facility to open is 2029. After that, this iconic Rosenlundsbadet will be demolished. So, take a moment to appreciate this piece of Jönköping’s history. Remember the splashes, the cheers, and the joy that Rosenlundsbadet has brought to countless individuals over the decades.
