In 1994, amidst the vibrant growth of Johor Bahru, a new beacon of learning emerged: SK Taman Suria. The school’s name, echoing the surrounding Taman Suria housing estate, resonated with the promise of a bright future. SK Taman Suria initially consisted of three three-story buildings, a canteen, and 21 classrooms, along with other specialized rooms. The school’s first principal, Mr. Roduan bin Ahmad, led the way, nurturing a culture of excellence. As the student population flourished, the Ministry of Education recognized the need for expansion. Under the Ninth Malaysia Plan (RMK9), a new four-story building was added, officially opening its doors on June 6, 2010. This expansion allowed SK Taman Suria to accommodate the growing number of students eager to learn and grow. SK Taman Suria isn’t just about academics. It’s a champion of sustainability. Since 2008, the school has been recognized as a Sustainable School by the Johor Department of Environment (JAS). The school’s commitment to environmental stewardship has earned it numerous awards. In 2023, SK Taman Suria received the Environmental Friends Recognition (RAS) award. This prestigious award was presented by Her Majesty the Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah at the Iskandar Puteri City Forest during the National Environment Day celebrations. Today, SK Taman Suria stands as a testament to the power of community and the pursuit of knowledge. With a dedicated staff of 67 teachers and 9 other staff members, the school serves almost 1,000 students. SK Taman Suria continues to live up to its motto, “Kelahiranku Untuk Menunaikan Janji” – “My Birth to Fulfill a Promise.”
