Ever wonder what modern Jordanian life looks like? Right here, in front of Taj Mall, you can get a glimpse. Taj Mall isn’t just a shopping center. It’s a vibrant hub showcasing the contemporary face of Jordan. Officially known as Taj Lifestyle Center, Taj Mall opened in November 2011. This five-story marvel transformed Amman’s shopping scene. It cost a staggering $170 million to build, a bold move during a financial crisis. Designed by RSMS Architects from New Delhi, Taj Mall boasts a unique blend of traditional stonework and modern design. The massive glass atrium, shaded from the Jordanian sun, creates a cool and inviting space. Inside, you’ll find over 190 shops. They offer everything from high-end fashion labels like Louis Vuitton, Ralph Lauren, and Burberry, to more affordable options like H&M and Zara. Taj Mall also houses Jordan’s largest cinema, with sixteen screens, including four VIP theaters. Outside, spacious patios offer panoramic city views. These patios are home to a diverse selection of restaurants and cafes. You can enjoy traditional Lebanese food at Lebnani Snack or relax with a shisha at Café Hanin. You can also find Chinese and American fast food. The underground parking garage can be a bit of a maze. Many shoppers resort to using their car alarms to locate their vehicles. Leaving the garage can also be tricky, especially during peak hours. The mall’s location near a busy bridge often leads to traffic jams. Despite these challenges, Taj Mall remains a popular destination. It’s a place where locals and tourists mingle, offering a unique window into modern Jordanian life. The mall was temporarily closed during the pandemic but has since reopened, stronger than ever.
