The mountain deity, enraged, shot down the dragon with a single arrow. The dragon’s body disappeared into the depths, but its head, frozen in a perpetual roar, remains as Yongduam Rock. Another tale speaks of a white horse, yearning to become a dragon and soar through the heavens. A soldier captured the horse, and in its final moments of despair, it transformed into the iconic rock. As you stand here, looking out over the water, you might even spot the famed haenyeo, the female divers of Jeju, going about their daily work, collecting the ocean’s bounty.
