There is a story behind the name Langde ki Chowki. Near the Hanuman Mandir was a disabled watchman. The temple’s priest, Gopi Upadhyay, told about him. The watchman did his duty honestly. The watchman used to listen to the Ram Katha in the temple. Once, a Kotwal came to check. He saw the disabled watchman listening to Ram’s story.

The Kotwal was confused. How could the watchman be in two places at once? When the Kotwal arrived the disabled watchman was also present. The watchman said he only listens to Ram’s story.

The Kotwal did not understand this mystery. He summoned the watchman. He asked him how he could be in two places at once. The disabled watchman said he only listened to Ram’s story. The Kotwal was amazed. He realized the watchman was devoted to God. From that day on, the temple became known as Langde ki Chowki Hanuman Mandir.
