Want to ignite your social life while on the Isle of Man? Then listen closely. Our story isn’t about King Arthur’s legendary table, but about the Rushen Round Table, a unique Isle of Man organization.
Rushen Round Table is part of a larger group. It is the Round Table of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. This branch formed in 1972. Now, it’s the only Round Table group left on the Island. Other groups merged into Rushen years ago.
The Rushen Round Table is a non-profit organization. It is for men aged 18 to 45. They meet often for socials. They also support local charities. New members are always welcome.
What does the Round Table do? It covers a wide range of socials. Pool, BBQs, bowling and food nights are just a few. You don’t have to be a member to join these socials. They are open to perspective members too.
The Rushen Round Table also gives back to the community. They support local events. The Parish Walk is one example. The Round Table runs the famous Beer Stop. They also support local groups such as PHAB club. They provide a minibus service. This helps those attending from the south of the island.
Fundraising is key to the Round Table. They raise funds for local charities. They make it fun with things like the Human Fruit Machine. They support BBC Children in Need each year. This involves collections and a Pudsey draw at local pubs.
The Round Table has many active members. Daniel Crompton, Ed Benson, John Quayle and Mark Quayle make things happen. Many other members and helpers also contribute.
Recent Round Table highlights include a BBC Children in Need collection. The Pudsey Draw and pub collections raised around £700. Recent socials include a meal and pool night in Peel. There was also an annual BBQ and a tour of the Energy from Waste Plant. The team joined the PHAB club for their end-of-term meal and bowling night. They provided transport using the minibus.
The Round Table also had a Human Fruit Machine. It was at the Port Erin Beach Festival. It raised money for the Round Table. They have a beer stop at the Parish Walk. Bushy’s provides the beer. Water, ice pops, and sea shanties are also available.

Please note. There is also a Round Table Plantation on the Isle of Man. It was established in 1986. It has 21 hectares of mostly Sitka Spruce. It is next to the Glen Rushen plantation. It also has good access. Shelterbelts protect the west side.
