Did you know that the International Central Gospel Church, Christ Temple West is part of a larger story? It is a story that began with just twenty people in a small classroom. This was the humble start of the International Central Gospel Church in Accra, Ghana. The year was 1984.

The International Central Gospel Church, or ICGC as it is known, is an Evangelical Charismatic Christian Church. It officially started on February 26 1984. From those initial twenty members, the church grew. By April 1986 regular attendance reached one hundred and eighty adults. Early meetings took place in various locations. These included classrooms, a private residence, and even a cinema theatre.

In May 1986 the church found a more permanent home. It settled in a rented scout hall. This was the Baden Powell Memorial Hall. It served as their home for the next ten years. During this period the International Central Gospel Church saw remarkable growth. Membership rose to over 4000 people. This growth spurred missionary work. Local assemblies were established throughout Ghana. Churches were also planted in Europe and the United States.

The original congregation established in 1984 became known as the Christ Temple Assembly. This assembly has directly planted over forty other churches. These are located in the Accra-Tema metropolis of Ghana. The International Central Gospel Church is deeply committed to training leaders. In 1988 it established a ministerial institute. This institute has grown into the Central University College. It is now a premier private university in Ghana.

The International Central Gospel Church also cares about education beyond its own institutions. In 1988 it launched Central Aid. This is an educational scholarship scheme. It supports needy students in pre-tertiary education. Central Aid is now one of the largest non-governmental scholarship programs in Ghana.

The International Central Gospel Church is a socially conscious church. It believes in human dignity and excellence. It actively promotes events that impact Ghanaian society.
