Originally named Guangdong University, it was renamed in 1926 to honor Sun Yat-sen. This change recognized his profound impact on China. The university quickly became a hub for talented individuals. Scholars flocked here both from China and abroad.

These are located at Ateneo de Manila University, Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, Autonomous University of Yucatan, Lumière University Lyon 2, Jean Moulin University Lyon 3, and the University of Cape Town.
