Feel the rush. The roar of the wave. That’s Surf Abu Dhabi.
Picture this You’re standing before the world’s longest artificial wave ride. Surf Abu Dhabi isn’t just a wave pool. It’s a spectacle. A 75000 square meter marvel of engineering. It boasts the highest human-made wave and the largest enclosed barrel.
This incredible facility on Hudayriyat Island is more than just a surfing destination. It’s a testament to innovation. The project started secretly in 2019. Visible construction traces fueled speculation on Google Maps. For five years Modon Properties and Kelly Slater Wave Co secretly fine-tuned the wave-generating technology. It’s the same technology used at California’s Surf Ranch. The result? Four distinct wave breaks. Each caters to different skill levels.
From the gentle Beach Break for beginners to Kelly’s Wave. Kelly’s Wave is the ultimate challenge. It delivers head-high barrels and exhilarating speeds. Imagine riding for almost a minute. Thirty surfers can enjoy the thrill simultaneously.
Surf Abu Dhabi is more than just waves. There’s a massive LED screen. Night surfing is possible thanks to a powerful floodlight system. Beach houses a surf club a restaurant and a beach club with an infinity pool add to the experience. Scott Chambers Surf House Dubai supplies the equipment.
The opening was spectacular. Kelly Slater himself rode the first wave. He invited world champion surfers Stephanie Gilmore Gabriel Medina Caroline Marks and Filipe Toledo. Even Chilean wingsuit flyer Sebastián Álvarez made a dramatic entrance. He sky-surfed from a helicopter into a wave.
The first WSL-sanctioned competition was held here. The Abu Dhabi Longboard Classic crowned its champions. And Surf Abu Dhabi has been chosen as a venue for the 2025 Championship Tour.
But there’s a price for this paradise. Surf Abu Dhabi is the world’s most expensive public wave pool. A single ride can cost anywhere from $70 to nearly $160. But the experience is worth it. The thrill the excitement the sheer scale of it all. It’s a surfing experience like no other. A unique destination that pushes boundaries and makes waves. Quite literally.
