In 1930, the New Vision Church first opened its doors. It has been a beacon of faith in Los Angeles ever since. New Vision Christian Ministries International calls this church home. It’s a vibrant tapestry of different cultures and backgrounds. The church was founded by Pastors Curtis Maloy and Darren D. Thomas in October 2002. Their combined forty years of ministry experience led them to answer God’s call to leadership. Both pastors served under the late Pastor Carol Riggins at Oceanside Gospel Lighthouse. They learned the value of humility and dedicated service. New Vision Church’s initial goal was to uplift the surrounding community. They aimed to empower people to break free from poverty and addiction. They also wanted to provide spiritual guidance and teach biblical principles. The church’s first congregation consisted of just fifteen people meeting in a mobile home park clubhouse. As the ministry grew, they moved to the Vista Entertainment Center. This unique venue was a bowling alley by day and a club by night. Every Sunday, the second-floor dance club transformed into a sanctuary. Members diligently prepared the space. They hauled chairs, speakers, and instruments, consecrating the area for worship. Even a broken elevator didn’t deter their dedication. They carried everything up the stairs in their Sunday best. The pastors often gave their better chairs to guests and members, demonstrating their humility. At Vista Entertainment Center, lives were changed and souls were delivered. The New Vision Church extended its reach globally. They supported missions and hosted a family from Africa. They facilitated Bible translation into local dialects. The church also helped homeless families with shelter and food. They supported individuals struggling with addiction by covering the costs of rehabilitation. New Vision Church even provided funds for at-risk youth to participate in sports. After three years, the church relocated to 2117 Industrial Court. They remained there for ten years. Pastor Maloy passed away in October 2007. However, his vision lives on through the growing ministry. Community outreach remained a cornerstone of New Vision Church. They partnered with organizations like Save our Streets and Firm Believers In Jesus Christ. They launched programs such as Adopt-A-Block, the Curtis Maloy Memorial Scholarship, and Feeding the 5000. They organized mission trips, tutoring programs, and health fairs. They provided shelter, food, and clothing to those in need. In late 2014, the congregation began praying for their own facility. As rents increased, their prayers were answered. In February 2015, they found their current location at half the previous rent. God’s provision was evident. New Vision Church continues to grow and impact the community.
