Is there a more fitting name for a church than Immaculate Heart of Mary? This beautiful house of worship, nestled in the heart of Atlanta, has been a beacon of faith for the community since its founding in 1958. Imagine the excitement as Bishop Francis Hyland, the first Bishop of the Diocese of Atlanta, established this very parish. The first pastor, Reverend Monsignor Cornelius Maloney, wasted no time. He quickly got to work, overseeing the construction of the original church, rectory, and school. Immaculate Heart of Mary has always kept pace with Atlanta’s growth. Over the years, the original buildings have been expanded and modernized to accommodate the needs of the parish’s growing and diverse congregation. Today, Immaculate Heart of Mary is a vibrant testament to faith, community, and service. It stands as a symbol of enduring belief, a place where almost 2,000 families from diverse backgrounds gather to worship, learn, and serve together.
