Tucked away in the Tánh Linh district, Xã Đức Tân whispers a tale of transformation. Xã Đức Tân, once a sprawling area of 20.93 square kilometers, housed a population of 6,935 people. This resulted in a population density of 331 people per square kilometer. However, according to the National Assembly’s Standing Committee’s Resolution No. 1211/2016/UBTVQH13, Xã Đức Tân fell short of the standards for both natural land area and population size. This spurred a significant change for Xã Đức Tân. The authorities, aiming to streamline administration and boost investment efficiency, decided to merge Xã Đức Tân with its neighbor, Xã Măng Tố. The merger involved extensive consultations with residents of both communes. The results were overwhelmingly positive, with 99.91% of Xã Đức Tân residents and 99.02% of Xã Măng Tố residents approving the merger. The newly formed commune, retaining the name Xã Măng Tố, now encompasses a larger area of 69.3 square kilometers and a combined population of 9,838 people. It now meets the established standards. While Xã Đức Tân’s name might fade from official maps, its story lives on, a testament to adaptation and progress in the heart of Vietnam.
