How many of you have heard of a place called “Thái Bình – Gia Lạc”? That’s what this area was once known as. Right here, you’re standing on the grounds of Giáo xứ Thái Lạc. It’s a church with a story as rich as the incense you might smell wafting from within. Giáo xứ Thái Lạc’s history began in 1954. A priest named Father Đaminh Lương Thiên Khuyến brought together a group of parishioners. They came from Gia Lạc parish in the diocese of Thái Bình and another parish in the diocese of Bùi Chu – Bắc Ninh. They embarked on a journey south, seeking a new home. Their journey led them to Lương Hòa parish in Mỹ Tho diocese and later to Lộc Giang parish in the Phú Cường diocese. Finally, in 1958, they arrived here, in what was then Phước Lộc, Long Thành province. They established Giáo xứ Thái Lạc, a testament to their faith and resilience. The first church, built with Father Đaminh’s guidance, was a modest structure measuring 9 meters wide and 27 meters long. It was a symbol of their new beginning. Over the years, Giáo xứ Thái Lạc flourished under the leadership of dedicated priests like Father Giuse Maria Trần Quang Vịnh and Father Giuse Đỗ Văn Nguyên. They oversaw the construction of a new bell tower and other improvements, creating a space of worship and community for the growing congregation. Today, Giáo xứ Thái Lạc stands as a symbol of enduring faith. It represents the spirit of its founders, who journeyed far to build a new life around their shared beliefs. It’s a place where history whispers in the rustling leaves and faith echoes in every hymn.
