Established in 1982 Green Valley Christian Center began as a small gathering. Eleven people met in a home. Four were the Morefield family. Pastors Gary and Meg Morefield had moved from San Diego to Las Vegas. They envisioned a church that would reach everyone. Green Valley Christian Center wasn’t just a building. It was a birthplace of world-changers. Their initial services were in a home. Soon they moved to the Henderson Convention Center. Growth was rapid. They then rented space on Texas Street. A significant milestone came in 1985. Three acres of land were miraculously donated. Construction began on their own building. This new site sat atop a hill. It was in a new Henderson community called Green Valley. The first building phase was 10000 square feet. Mostly volunteer labor made it possible. The church continued its expansion. In 1991 Pastor Gary felt a calling. He started a Christian preschool. The church blossomed further. A second building phase started in 1992. Their first kindergarten class opened the following year. They added first grade in 1994. The elementary school expanded. A three-story educational wing was added in 1999. The upper school began in 2007 with 7th grade. In 2011 they acquired the 706 Building. This housed Next Gen Student Ministries and Jr & Sr High School. Their first high school graduating class was in 2014. Today Green Valley Christian Center hosts four weekend services. There are various worship options. WorshipLive services and Traditions are offered. The music style may differ. The message remains consistent. Over fifteen ministries operate within the center. Many opportunities exist to get involved and serve. Life Groups offer deeper relationships. Green Valley Christian Center strives for excellence. It values relationships and generous giving. It aims to be a place of laughter and growth. It is a place where people feel welcome and at home. It’s a place where faith flourishes and where lives are transformed.
