“All those who pass by here honour those who are fallen so that you may live.” These words echo from the Antifaschistisches Denkmal. They implore us to remember the sacrifices made. This memorial stands as a testament to the fight against fascism. It is in Berlin’s Prenzlauer Berg district.

The Antifaschistisches Denkmal is near the S+U-Bahnhof Schönhauser Allee. Look for it on the west side of the Eisenbahnbrücke. It is right next to the Straßenbahnhaltestelle.

Günter Schütz created these bronze reliefs in 1986. They depict scenes of persecution, resistance, and liberation from National Socialism. Five bronze panels capture this era. The middle panel features the emblem of the Vereinigung der Verfolgten des Naziregimes. It also bears the dates 1933–1945.

The inscription on the middle panel is in four languages. It reminds us of the fallen. The English version reads. “All those who pass by here honour those who are fallen so that you may live”. The message is clear. We owe our freedom to those who fought against tyranny.

Consider the weight of those years. From 1933 to 1945, darkness enveloped Germany. Fascism threatened to consume the world. But brave individuals resisted. They fought for freedom and justice. The Antifaschistisches Denkmal honours their courage.

Imagine the scenes depicted on the reliefs. People are persecuted for their beliefs. Resistance fighters plot in secret. Liberation finally arrives after years of struggle. Each panel tells a story of suffering and hope.

The location of the Antifaschistisches Denkmal is significant. It is near a busy transportation hub. Everyday thousands of people pass by. The memorial serves as a constant reminder. It urges us to never forget the past.

Think about the impact of such a monument. It stands in a public space. It challenges us to confront difficult history. It encourages us to learn from the past. It inspires us to build a better future.

The Antifaschistisches Denkmal is more than just bronze and stone. It is a symbol of hope. It is a reminder of resilience. It is a tribute to those who stood up against oppression.

Take a moment to reflect on the inscription. “All those who pass by here honour those who are fallen so that you may live.” Let these words guide your actions. Let them inspire you to fight for justice and equality. Let the Antifaschistisches Denkmal serve as a constant reminder. Freedom is not free.
