Let’s step back in time, to the year 1988. The Guru Nanak Sikh Temple was just a vision, a dream for the Sikh community of Brisbane. A vision for a place of worship, a place of peace, a place of community. The foundation stone was laid on Baisakhi, a significant day in the Sikh calendar, marking the birth of the Khalsa. The community finally moved to their new and fully constructed site at 2679 Logan Road in December 1988. The Guru Nanak Sikh Temple is truly a place where the principles of Sikhism are lived, a vibrant and welcoming hub for the growing Sikh community in Brisbane. It’s a place where community comes together, where prayers are offered, and where the spirit of selfless service is embraced. Every day, the temple offers free meals, called Langar, to anyone who comes through its doors, a powerful symbol of the Sikh belief in equality and compassion. The Guru Nanak Sikh Temple isn’t just a place of worship, it’s a beacon of generosity, a place where diversity is celebrated, and where everyone is welcome.
