“Ready to be amazed?” That’s the question the Castello Düsseldorf seems to whisper. This isn’t your typical knight’s castle. The Castello Düsseldorf is a modern multi-purpose hall. It stands in Düsseldorfs Reisholz district. Until 2011 it was known as Burg-Wächter Castello.

Let’s step inside this venue. The Castello Düsseldorf boasts an interior space of over 1600 square meters. It can host up to 3300 visitors. Imagine the versatility. One day it’s a sports arena. The next it transforms into a conference hall. It can accommodate almost 700 participants for conferences. Banquets with over 920 people are also possible here.

The Castello Düsseldorf history is quite interesting. Initially, the site was planned for a quadruple gymnasium. This was intended for the neighboring Free Christian Grammar School in Düsseldorf. However, plans evolved. It became a venue suitable for Bundesliga handball and basketball. Support from the city was crucial. The city of Düsseldorf agreed to cover initial leasing costs. This was for the HSG Düsseldorf handball team and the Düsseldorf Magics basketball team.

This venue is adaptable. Extensive research ensured its suitability for TV broadcasts, concerts and events. It can host around 78 different indoor sports. The Castello Düsseldorf officially opened in October 2005. It started with a Magics game and a boxing match.

Though sports teams eventually moved on the Castello Düsseldorf still thrives. It is used for school sports and corporate events. In August 2010, the City of Düsseldorf became the owner.

The Castello Düsseldorf is a sporting hub. It was home to the HSG Düsseldorf. The Düsseldorfer HC also held home games here. Boxing events, organized by Universum Box-Promotion and Spotlight Boxing, occur regularly. Darts fans will recall the 2017 German Darts Masters being held here. Since 2019, Fortuna Düsseldorf’s Futsal team has played home games here. The German Futsal national team has also used the Castello Düsseldorf for test matches. In 2023, the arena hosted the German preliminary round group of the European Volleyball Championship for Women.

But the Castello Düsseldorf isn’t just about sports. It’s also known as the “northernmost television studio in Cologne”. Its modern equipment makes it perfect for renowned TV productions.

Consider the features here. There are conference rooms. These rooms accommodate from ten people upwards. There are workshop rooms with beamers and internet access. The event space measures 73.5 by 47 meters. That’s 3086 square meters. The action area is 27 by 60 meters. This equates to 1620 square meters. The clear height varies. It ranges between 8.50 and 12.50 meters.

Catering is well-covered. There are four VIP lounges. Four food corners offer professional kitchens. They also offer views of the playing field. There are two catering areas as well.

Getting here is easy. The Düsseldorf-Reisholz train station is nearby. Two S-Bahn lines and eight bus lines serve it.

So, the Castello Düsseldorf isn’t just a building. It’s a dynamic space. It adapts to the city’s needs. It hosts sports, events, and even TV productions.
