In 1912, a seed of faith was planted, not here in Mondure, but in the nearby locale of Kawl Kawl. This seed took the form of St Faith’s Anglican Church. The church’s journey began thanks to the generosity of E.J. McConnell. He donated the land and financed the entire construction, a hefty £250 at the time. The church was dedicated on October 14, 1912, by Archbishop St Clair Donaldson of Brisbane. Eight baptisms marked the very first day, a testament to the community’s spiritual thirst. St Faith’s served the Western Region of the Diocese of Brisbane. Fast forward to 1924, after a “controversial meeting,” the entire church building was relocated to its present location here in Mondure. Once again, E.J. McConnell stepped in, donating the land for the church’s new home. A century later, in 2012, St Faith’s celebrated its centenary with Bishop Robert Nolan of the Western Region presiding. Former parishioners gathered from near and far. They shared stories, reminisced, and explored the small cemetery adjacent to the church. The church unfortunately held its last service on May 21, 2023.
