Founded in 1898 as the Swedish Baptist Church in Cambridge Open Door Baptist Church has a rich history. It wasn’t always in Belmont. It began its life in Cambridge Massachusetts. Later it was known as Evangel Baptist Church. This was part of the Baptist General Conference. In 1948 the foundation was laid for the current building in Belmont. The name changed again in the late 1990s to Open Door Baptist Church. Today it stands as a testament to enduring faith. It’s an independent Baptist church. It cooperates with the Baptist Bible Fellowship International and other similar churches.
Pastor Timothy Robinson leads the congregation. He and his wife Toni have seven children. Pastor Robinson earned a BA in Pastoral Ministry from Boston Baptist College. He was ordained by Open Door Baptist Church in 2016. He also holds an MA in Church Planting from Capitol Seminary in Pennsylvania. Both he and Toni served in the United States Army. They were stationed in Natick Massachusetts when they found faith. The Robinson family began attending Open Door Baptist Church while Timothy was in Bible College.
