Covenant Community Church incorporated in 2007. Pastor Earl Grant Jr. and First Lady Ivory Grant led the way. Six other families were the founding members. The first worship service was in September 2007. It was held at Thousand Oaks Baptist Church. Services formally commenced there in October 2007. More than 250 people attended. This relationship lasted for five years. Covenant CC grew its membership. It established financial credentials. This allowed them to transition to their own facilities.
In August 2008 Covenant CC purchased land. It was 7.2 acres of undeveloped land. The location is in north central San Antonio. Construction of a multi-purpose building began in November 2011. The new building was completed in September 2012.
Membership and attendance blossomed rapidly. By 2018 Covenant CC needed more space. This included increased seating in the sanctuary. There was also a need for additional childcare nursery, classroom, meeting, and administrative space. Construction contracts were signed in March 2020. Then COVID-19 was declared a national emergency. The pandemic shutdown allowed them to expand their project. They renovated the existing sanctuary. After being closed for more than 15 months members returned in June 2021. They returned to an enlarged sanctuary. They also found a new administration and education facility.
Many churches suffered losses during the pandemic. Covenant CC continued in its mission. All things work together for good. This is for those who love God. It is for those who are called according to His purpose.
