Gazing upon Emmanuel Charismatic Church, one can almost hear the echoes of its humble beginnings. Emmanuel Charismatic Church started its journey in 1990. A small group of eight people, led by Reverend Gonzalo and Lilia Quintero, began meeting in a home in Douglaston, New York. Their faith resonated, and soon the group grew to thirty. Emmanuel Charismatic Church’s history is a testament to the power of faith. It’s filled with anecdotes of miracles, challenges, and transformed lives. The church quickly outgrew the Garces family home. In March 1991, they moved their services to a Chinese church in Flushing. This arrangement was short-lived due to conflicts with the building’s owners. By August 1991, through divine providence, Emmanuel Charismatic Church found a new home at the Evangel Church building. They were warmly welcomed by Pastor Robert Johansson. Reverend Quintero had a vision for Emmanuel Charismatic Church. He saw a future where the church had its own dedicated space. This vision spurred the congregation to embark on a fundraising effort. In a leap of faith, they purchased a former metalwork factory in 1995. This $270,000 investment transformed the industrial space into a sanctuary. The new Emmanuel Charismatic Church, located on 35th Avenue and 31st Street in Long Island City, could accommodate 200 worshippers. Emmanuel Charismatic Church continued to grow. In 1997, they founded the Emmanuel Bible School. This initiative, supported by the Emmanuel University Foundation in Bogota, Colombia, and endorsed by Vision International University, further solidified their commitment to education and spiritual growth. The same year, Melquisedec and Dulfay Quintero joined the church leadership. They focused on training future leaders. Tragedy struck in July 2000 when Reverend Gonzalo Quintero passed away. The church found solace in their faith, appointing Melquisedec and Dulfay Quintero as the new pastors. Under their leadership, Emmanuel Charismatic Church has expanded its outreach. Since 2005, they’ve produced a weekly radio program, “En Familia” (Family Matters), broadcasting to a wide audience in the tri-state area. They also send mission teams to countries across the globe, spreading their message of faith and love. Today, Emmanuel Charismatic Church welcomes over 350 people from diverse backgrounds. Their continued growth led to the construction of a new building in 2016, with a capacity of 600, ensuring that Emmanuel Charismatic Church can continue to serve its growing community.
