Whispers of history and culture swirl around us here at the Lycée Français International Marguerite Duras. This isn’t just any school. It’s a living testament to the enduring connection between Vietnam and France. The Lycée Français International Marguerite Duras stands in District 9 of Ho Chi Minh City. It carries a legacy that stretches back to the early 1960s. Back then, the École Française Colette graced Saigon with its presence. Sadly, in 1975, the school had to relinquish its building to a Vietnamese institution. However, the spirit of French education didn’t fade. With Vietnam’s opening to the world in 1990, the school experienced a revival. The creation of the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE) further solidified its future. The Lycée Français International Marguerite Duras as we see it today was born in 2011. The current building, nestled in the Long Binh quarter, was inaugurated after construction began in 2009. It stands as a symbol of renewed partnership between the AEFE and the French Consulate General. Managed by the AEFE and approved by the French Ministry of National Education, the Lycée Français International Marguerite Duras welcomes over 970 students. From maternelle to baccalauréat, these young minds, including around 764 French nationals, are immersed in a rich blend of French and international curricula. As you stand here, imagine the vibrant energy within these walls. Students from diverse backgrounds, united by their thirst for knowledge, engage in lively discussions. The halls echo with the sounds of learning, laughter, and the promise of a bright future. The Lycée Français International Marguerite Duras isn’t just a school; it’s a bridge between cultures, a testament to resilience, and a beacon of educational excellence.
